For this painting mini course, we’re painting a box lid so the box will hold special Christmas ornaments. Every year, when I unpack all my Christmas ornament boxes, I have this special box to open. 

This box lid can be placed on a wall, and it will look just like a canvas painting! 

And your box can be displayed on a bookshelf or table, or under the tree. It is great for gifting too! So there are different ways you can use this painting lid.

If you don’t want to paint on a box lid, you can paint on a regular canvas. My box lid is a square and it’s 12”x12” inches.

You can add stripes or polka dots, pom poms, or glitter! This will be your special box, so you can add all kinds of embellishments if you’d like!

• I painted on a gift box lid for this painting, but you can easily paint on a canvas instead, so feel free to paint on whichever you prefer!

  12x12 - 12x12 gallery wrapped, 12x12 regular canvas
  11x14 - 11x14 gallery wrapped, 11x14 regular canvas
• Brushes: size 5,8, 10 and 11
• Pen: with a paint-dried tip (to write into the paint)
• Paper towels (to wipe off brushes)
• Chalk - to outline the painting
• Liquitex Student Grade Acrylic paints: (feel free to use any colors)
  • Mars Black- to paint the background
