Matthew 5:14 Girl đź’—

“You are here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept, we're going public with this.” Matthew 5:14 MSG

Step 1:

Using a pen, draw a border around the page of your sketchbook (I’m using a Moleskine sketchbook), adding little hearts in the corners.

Then, I’m going to start drawing a girl in the middle. Starting with half circle for the head, and two curves for the hairline. Finish off the top of the head with two curves and a wobbly circle on the top left to look like a bun.

Then, draw two little lines for the neck and curve down for the shoulders and arms, where it almost is a triangle shape. Draw a horizontal line at the top of the shoulders for the top of the dress and bring the edges in as you come down to the waist. From the waist, bring the edges way out to create a big ball gown dress! Draw any details for sleeves, trims, flower belt, and draw little lines from the sleeves for the arms. Make the girls eyes by drawing two wide u shapes, so it looks like they’re closed, adding little lines for eyelashes. Add a little curve in the middle of the eyes for the nose. Under the nose, draw a little mouth shape.

Step 2:

Now let’s write the verse! Start at the top fill the space with the Matthew 5:14 verse, “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept, we’re going public with this” *Tip* Tell yourself today “I am an artist!”.

Step 3:

Using tape and tissue paper, start adding colorful fun designs to the dress of your girl! I’m also adding some washi tape to my dress. Now I’m using a pink magic marker to color in the lips and hearts on the cheeks. Now I’m coloring in the hair with watercolors, using a number 8 brush.

Then, I’m going over the letters in the verse with the pink magic marker. Some I’m putting squares around, and coloring in the hearts that are in the corners. Keep doodling as much as you like!! I added some more pink around the border!

Bonus Step 4:

If you are weary, here is some added sparkle! On a piece of paper, write “Added Joy to your day”. Start making a list of ways to add joy. Mine are 1. Write Scripture that lights up your heart 2. Doodle and Create 3. Add Color 4. Share your creativity with others!
