There’s something very special and powerful about writing out scripture and combining it with some doodles and sketches. It’s a beautiful way to pray and seek God, especially when we’re dealing with life’s daily decisions.
Today, I’m doodling a verse for you and then I’m going to go through all of my favorite art supplies. This is perfect if you’re a beginner and don’t know where to start!
For this particular verse, I’m cutting a wonky shape from a piece of mixed-media cardstock. Then, I’ll doodle a quick border and flowers, and write my verse in the middle. 🌸 I’m going to make the word “truth” in bubble letters to make it really stand out.
Next, I’m going to grab my watercolor palette and grab my favorite color - pink! đź’•I’ll just take my paintbrush and highlight my border, color in my flowers, and underline words that stand out to me. Now, you can place this verse in your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, or wherever you would like to remind you of God’s presence.
Now, onto my favorite art supplies!
Mudder Paintbrushes - I love the way these paintbrushes feel and I love the round tips. You can grab a whole pack of them and they are very budget-friendly. You don’t need super expensive paintbrushes to create!
Faber-Castell Pens - These are permanent pens that are great for working with watercolor paint! If I didn’t use a permanent pen with my paints, it would bleed, so these are great for working with your watercolors.
Prima Watercolors - I love these watercolor paint palettes because they are so compact and easy to travel with. They fold up really nicely and there are lots of different sets from classic colors to shimmer ones.
Sketchbook - I have gone through so many sketchbooks and this one is my favorite! I love how flexible it is and I carry it with me everywhere. This is something that I use for my quiet time, so it’s like a journal for me.
Moleskine Journal - I use these journals for making art, painting from verses and quotes, and drawing during church sermons.
Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paint - These are my absolute favorite acrylic paints! I love to have texture in my paints, and these have just that!
Liquitex Professional Medium - Whenever I add paper, buttons, or other materials to my paintings, I use this gloss varnish. You can also use this as a glue medium or to varnish your painting to finish it off.
Blick Gallery Wrapped Canvas - I love these canvases because they have a thick side. You can stick these canvases straight on the wall - no need to frame it!
Mixed Media Pad - I use this mixed media paper all of the time. Instead of expensive watercolor paper, I save money and love this cardstock-style paper.
