We are sketching a flower bouquet today!
My hope and prayer is that we truly feel the smile of God! You can get some paper, pens, and start writing, drawing or just listen and enjoy! We will be creating around two special scriptures today. “You made me so happy, God. I saw your work and I shouted for joy.” Psalm 92:4(MSG) and “And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do. Oh yes, Affirm the work that we do!” Psalm 90:17 (MSG)
Pause, Pray, Write Scripture, Draw. Write Psalm 90:17 on a piece of paper. Think about what “the loveliness of our Lord” means! How can you translate this verse into your daily life?
Flip the piece of paper over and start drawing your bouquet of flowers! Start by drawing a wonky flower shape with a brush pen, and then draw the vase shape from the first flower. The vase is almost a ‘V’ shape and then a shorter, upside-down...
“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
We are in the season of Lent! Counting down to Easter! This is a project I do every year for lent, and I wanted to share it with you, too! So we are making a paper phone! I was asking God how I can be closer to Him, and He showed me the sweetest way. I wanted to have something where I could think about God every time I pick up my phone. It’s about slowing down during the day, taking a pause, and every time you want to pick up your real phone, pick up your paper phone instead!
Trace around your phone on a piece of paper. Layer two pieces of paper, and cut out the shape so you have two pieces of paper the size of your phone. Then staple the sides. Cut out curves or shaping so it looks more like the shape of your phone. *Insight* Vacare Deum: means Space for God, Vacant, Making...
For today’s mini art tutorial, we are going to be drawing and painting a Joy Flower, based on the verse from Nehemiah and my new 2024 calendar, which features this fun flower. All you need to create this little art piece is some paper, a pen, a paintbrush, watercolors, and washi tape. I hope this serves as a reminder that God is our joy and strength.
I’m using mixed media paper, and I’ll just take my scissors and cut it a little smaller into a more wonky shape. I’m going to make mine into a little card, but you can do whatever you would like with your own art piece!
I am using a size B Faber Castell pen. Draw your flower petals, and remember that they can be totally wonky and different sizes. Then, draw a circle in the middle with the word “JOY”. Next, add your stem and leaves. Doodle the words to your verse at the bottom of your page.
Now, let’s...
I have been developing this little lemonade series around this verse. And I love thinking about when life gives you lemons, we can make pink lemonade!
Today, we are doodling a lemonade girl and adding some watercolor paint to her to create a little art piece. Wonky is the word and this can be completely unique to you and your art style.
Create your girl’s head by drawing a U shape and then adding two lines for her hair and then two pigtails. For her face, I will draw two curved lines with eyelashes, a nose, and her mouth. Continue to draw her neck, an arm coming up to hold a glass of lemonade with a straw and some lemons.
Draw her skirt coming down and her two legs. I usually look where the waist is and draw the legs coming down from there. Draw her other arm next to her body and add some stripes to the skirt. I’ll also doodle a little flower on her shirt too....
I love this verse because it speaks so beautifully of creating and living an art-filled life - whether that is painting, gardening, baking, anything! We are going to take this verse, write it, paint it, and I’ll also share with y’all what a bliss station is and how to create one in your own home.
Write out the passage on a piece of paper. I am using a piece of mixed media paper and a Faber Castell SC pen. We are going to use this verse as a sacred prayer for our bliss station.
Let’s add color and details! I'm using Prima Marketing Classics Watercolors to add paint and decorate this verse. I’m coloring hearts and adding some yellow and blue dots. I’ll also doodle a little border with flowers. This is so simple and easy, and now you have a pretty verse for your bliss station...
There’s something very special and powerful about writing out scripture and combining it with some doodles and sketches. It’s a beautiful way to pray and seek God, especially when we’re dealing with life’s daily decisions.
Today, I’m doodling a verse for you and then I’m going to go through all of my favorite art supplies. This is perfect if you’re a beginner and don’t know where to start!
For this particular verse, I’m cutting a wonky shape from a piece of mixed-media cardstock. Then, I’ll doodle a quick border and flowers, and write my verse in the middle. I’m going to make the word “truth” in bubble letters to make it really stand out.
Next, I’m going to grab my watercolor palette and grab my favorite color - pink! I’ll just take...
My heart is to show the beauty of God’s Word through my art, and this Bible verse truly speaks to that. I am creating an 8x8 canvas of a wonky star and the word “shine” to encourage you to be a light in this world! I’m showing you my painting process, how I start most of my paintings, and how to add all of the God-colors to your art. Create this piece of art for yourself and display it in your home as a word of encouragement!
For most of my artwork, I start by painting my surface black - then I’ll add all of the color. There’s a lot of symbolism with the black being painted first because there are times when we have sorrow and darkness in our lives. But when we add all the beautiful colors to the black canvas… it creates the backdrop to bring in more depth and more richness. And the colors will shine brighter!
And...
Today, we’re focusing on this powerful verse that I have been writing in my journal this week. I’m using 5x7 handmade cotton paper, watercolor paint, and pens to make this little greeting card. And showing you how to make this from start to finish, but no need for perfection! We’re embracing the beautifully wonky!
This is a fun tutorial to make for yourself or gift this card to someone who may need some encouragement. :)
Fold your paper in half and start by adding some lines to the border of your inside flap and some imperfect flowers in the corners with your pen. Sketch your verse and feel free to add a box or underline words that stand out to you.
As you're doodling this verse, think about the battle that God may be fighting for you right now.
Let's move to the front where I will be sketching a girl. Start with a half oval for her head and then...
